Located in Wilder Ranch National Park\, Santa Cruz\, it’s a popular trail for all. We will explore an 1840’s working dairy ranch\, then eat lunch. After everyone is finished\, we will hike d own to Fern Grotto Beach. During the hike\, it’s possible you will spot sea lions\, and many other types of sea and land wildlife. While the hike is easy and scenic\, there is the Fern Grotto beach\, where we can sit bac k and relax. It sits right in the middle of our hike\, so it’s a good ti me to take a break and have some fun! Bring a towel and sunblock (if you r eally want to\, bring sand toys\, like shovels. However\, note that it wil l weigh you down during the hike). There are also caves that we can explor e. I plan to spend 1-1.5 hrs at the beach\, but it’s really up to the gr oup to decide. Don’t forget bug spray! It’s recommended you bring long pants\, a day pack to carry all your belongings\, and lots of water!\nIt will most likely be foggy and a bit chilly\, so bring a light jacket or an d extra layer.\nIt’s extremely hard to get lost\, so there is no need fo r a compass. The trail is a big loop\, so it leads to where you started. T he cost is $10 dollars per vehicle\, and the park is open from 8am to suns et.\nArrive at Prince of Peace at 9:00 am LATEST so we can check everyone in and finish any last minute business. The earlier everyone is at POP\, m aybe we can beat the traffic! We will be leaving no later than 9:20 am. Th e number of drivers/adults depends on the number of scouts.\nRemember\, Wi lder Ranch has many other trails that we can explore. Our hike doesn’t h ave to be limited to just the Old Landing Cove Trail. However\, some of th e trails it has to offer may be a bit challenging for some\, so keep that in mind.\nFamilies and friends of the scouts are also invited to come*. Th is is also a webelo friendly event. Bring a packed lunch and snacks. You c an eat on the go or while we are at the beach. Adults\, this is a great ti me to get out of the house and enjoy the Beauty of Wilder Ranch and Santa Cruz!
