Introduction

This is the third edition of the Miwok Lodge 439, Order of the Arrow, Where to go Camping Book & Places to Visit While on Tour,also known as CAUSEWEWANNACAMPA.

This book lists campgrounds that are within a reasonable driving distance from San Jose, San Francisco Bay Area. The book is organized in California regions and alphabetical order by camp name, with one camp per page. In addition to all of the camping areas, there are also places to visit while you are on your tour. These sites include non-camping state historic parks and state reserves. The general features of the camp are shown as icons. These include:

In addition to the icons shown above, specific information will be presented for each park and camp, and it is organized in the topics that follow.

Location: Will tell you which county the park is located, which city is nearby, and which region map you will find the park in California.

Campsites, facilities: Will tell you what types and numbers of campsites are available, in additions, what facilities are also available at the park.

Reservations, fees: Will tell you if there are any reservations needed, any fees required, and where to call for reservations. Reservations for non-California State Parks are made by calling that specific park. Reservations for California State Parks follow.

Reservations for California State Parks are made through its reservation system. A non-refundable reservation fee of $7.50 is charged for EACH reservation. Reservation fees pay for operating costs, which include the toll-free number, reservation agents, and marketing.

On the first of each month, campers will have access to an entire month of available start dates, up to 7 months in advance. You may secure camping reservations as late as 2 days prior to your planned arrival, subject to availability. Call for reservations: 1-800-444-PARK (7275); TDD: 1-800-274-7275.

Camping without a reservation at California State Parks campgrounds that operate on a 'first come, first served' basis, call: 1-916-653-6995.

To cancel a confirmed reservation, call Customer Account Services: 1-800-695-2269, between 8 am and 5 pm Pacific Time, 7 days a week. Your original $7.50 reservation fee is non-refundable.
