Trip notes: Limekiln State Park contains 716-acres. The park features breathtaking views of the Big Sur Coast. This camp provides a great layover spot in the Big Sur area of Highway 1. It is designed primarily for RVs, with drive-in campsites set up both near the beach and the redwoods, take your pick. Several hiking trails are available, including one that is routed past some historic lime kilns, which were used in the late 1800s to make cement and bricks. Want more? Got more: A short rock hop on a spur trail (just off the main trail) leads to dramatic 100-foot Limekiln Falls, a gorgeous waterfall. This camp was originally called Limekiln Beach Redwoods and was privately operated. No more.
