Legal battles between mine owners and downstream farmers ended this method. The park also contains a 7,847 foot bedrock tunnel that serves as a drain. The visitor center has exhibits on life in the old mining town of North Bloomfield. This camp is set near a small lake in the park, but the main attraction of the area is the gold mining history. Tours of the numerous historic sites are available during the summer months. The elevation is 3,400 feet.
